3 layer log mold soap

You will need 3 small containers for your lye and 3 medium stainless steel bowls or pans. Weigh your water in the first small plastic container. Weigh your lye and add it to the water, stir well and set aside. Repeat this 2 more times. Now weigh your oils, one batch at a time. When oils and lye have cooled you will mix the first layer, bring it to trace, pour. When it begins to set up it is time to mix the next layer batch. Repeat. Cover top with waxed paper and wait 2 days before you unmold.

For this batch I set the superfat at 8%. Be sure and run the recipe thru the xoapcalc before you begin. It is also handy to print it out.

This recipe is for a 5 pound mold. Each layer will use 18 oz of oil so you will put in 18 in the soapcalc for total weigh of oils. Below is the recipe for each layer.

Distilled Water           6.8 oz  ( 193.9 grams)

Sodium Hydroxide     2.4 oz  ( 67.3 grams)

Teenage Acne Soap - This bar must sit and cure for at least 3 months before it is used.

Before you start, this soap will get HARD in the mold very quickly and needs to be cut 6-8 hours AFTER it is poured into the mold. Be sure to wear protective gloves while you unmold and cut because the lye will still be active.

Coconut Oil    60%

Cocoa Butter  10%

Palm Oil         30%
